Presidential candidate of Ukraine and current President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko intends to sue 1+1 TV channel for spreading lies and disinformation. Artur Gerasimov, the Head of Petro Poroshenko Bloc’s fraction in the Verkhovna Rada, stated this.
“Petro Poroshenko decided to sue 1+1 TV for systematic lies in particularly large amounts, for spreading absolute disinformation that violates honor and dignity of the presidential candidate and the current President," Artur Gerasimov stated this, the claim was published on the official election campaign website of Petro Poroshenko.
Poroshenko's Bloc calls on Ukrainian citizens to treat news and other information products of a 1+1 TV channel with great caution, as there appears "more political orders from the owner."
“The information policy of one of the Ukrainian TV channels has changed a lot recently… The owner of the channel could not help but use his power… He turned the channel into a tool of dirty political tricks for bad fame against one of the political candidates, in particular, against Petro Poroshenko. Ihor Kolomoysky has destroyed the main principles of free journalism freedom of speech,” the report said.
According to Gerasimov, Ihor Kolomoysky is guided by a sense of revenge to the state, taking into account the fact that the government was forced to nationalize PrivatBank, whose co-owner was Kolomoisky.
"Besides, the Petro Poroshenko Bloc sincerely sympathizes the journalist team of the channel. Not every journalist takes part in this dirty work,” Gerasimov pointed out.
According to the Head of Petro Poroshenko Bloc’s fraction, the bad fame, the severe violations of the elementary principles of journalism, which the channel has used for several months, “do not allow us simply to ignore this.”
“1+1 TV channel strikes by the number of lies, bias attitude, disinformation and participation in the election campaign on the side of those candidates supported by the channel's owner. This channel is not ashamed to borrow fake information spread by the Moscow press. They even let Russian propaganda into Ukrainian information policy,” Gerasimov added.
