On January 29, Petro Poroshenko will officially state he would run for the presidency. He will claim this while participating in the press conference at the International Exhibition Centre in Kyiv. Ukrainska Pravda news agency reported that with the reference to its own sources.

The event will also involve other Ukrainian politicians, including Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman and Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko.

'It's not going to be the party convention; most likely, Poroshenko will be running as an independent candidate', Ukrainska Pravda said.

The presidential campaign in Ukraine began on December 31, 2018. The Central Election Committee is currently registering candidates; the list of the confirmed candidates includes, for one, comedian Volodymyr Zelensky, ex-Premier Yulia Tymoshenko, former Energy and Fuel Minister Yuriy Boiko and others.
