President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that he wasn’t losing hope for deploying UN peacekeepers to Donbas in 2018, as he said after meeting U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson in Davos yesterday.
“I thanked Mr. Secretary of State for the sanctions that the USA are introducing. I am sure that this policy will be effective. I reiterate that it’s an important mechanism of influence for us, in order to return Russia to the negotiation table and ensure reoccupation of Donbas and liberation of Crimea. I strongly believe that having a peacekeeping mission of the UN Security Council would be an important first step. I don’t lose hope that it may happen in 2018,” Poroshenko said.
