President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed the Law adopted by the Verkhovna Rada "On Ratification of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on cooperation in the sphere of defense." This information is published on the form of the bill on the website of the Parliament.
In accordance with the agreement signed by the representatives of Ukraine and the United Kingdom in Kyiv on March 17, 2016, the parties will carry out bilateral cooperation in the defense sector to strengthen peace and stability. It is expected that the participants of the memorandum will promote bilateral defense contacts in such areas as exchange of views and information on confidence-building and international (especially European) security, exchange of experience in training of personnel, command and control and combat training, to promote cooperation in the military-technical field, participation in joint military drills, to identify opportunities for the procurement of military equipment, spare parts and supplies, etc.
Earlier, the Ukrainian Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak said that within the framework of the above-mentioned memorandum UK would double assistance to Ukraine in implementing reforms of the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces, as well as the military drills for Ukrainian officers.
