President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and Vice President of the U.S. Michael Pence held a telephone conversation on Tuesday. The press center of the Ukrainian leader reported that.
Poroshenko informed Pence on the current situation in Donbas, focusing on the ongoing ceasefire violations in the combat area, allowed by the militants. He added that the U.S. should further apply political and economic pressure on the Kremlin and keep the sanctions against Russia intact.
Pence insisted on holding on to the current sanctions policy until Russia fulfills the Minsk agreements and returns Crimea to Ukraine. He added that the U.S. is going to continue to support Ukraine in its fight for territorial integrity and sovereignty.
Pence also underlined that the supplies of defensive lethal weapons is a positive signal for Ukraine's other partners - and a clear warning for the Russian aggressors.
