Leaders of Ukraine and Germany Petro Poroshenko and Angela Merkel talked through a wide variety of issues on Thursday, December 22. Specifically, they dscussed the ongoing increased combat activity in the area of Svitlodarsk bulge in Donbas. Both marked the necessity to cease fire in the war-torn eastern Ukraine and the immediate release of the Ukrainian hostages.
Merkel stressed that the Netherlands should eventually ratify the EU-Ukraine association agreement, and thus complete the procedures to implement the EU-Ukraine visa-free regime.
Poroshenko condemned the terrorist act in Berlin and expressed condolences to the German nation.
