President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has discussed the release of the Ukrainian political prisoners in Russia, assassination attempt on Russian journalist Arkadiy Babchenko in Kyiv and Donbas war with German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas as the press service of Poroshenko reported.
Maas has visited Ukraine for the first time.
The parties have discussed the development of the situation in Donbas and coordinated the further steps for the activation of the peace process. Maas has also claimed about his will to visit the contact line to personally see the situations.
The sides discussed the importance of the urgent deployment of the multinational operation for the peacekeeping under the aegis of the UN.
'We have supported the idea to consider this issue within the next session of the Normandy Four at the foreign ministers' level', the message said.
Moreover, they have discussed the release of the Ukrainian political prisoners in Russia, particularly movie maker Oleg Sentsov and activist Volodymyr Balukh.
'Ukrainian president has emphasized that Russia is still the source of the destabilization in Ukraine and it is witnessed by the assassination attempt on Russian journalist Arkadiy Babchenko. Poroshenko has also reminded on the risks for the security by the gas supplies to Europe through Nord Stream 2.
