President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that he plans to offer the restoration of special military courts in accordance with existing international practice. The head of state wrote this on Facebook, commenting on the verdict to General Viktor Nazarov in the case of a downed at the Lugansk airport Il-76.

Military experts, and military judges, rather than civilians, should assess the actions of commanders in a combat situation, at least for now, as long as this terrible insidious hybrid war is going on. Justice must certainly be achieved in court, and our soldiers shouldn't doubt the military court decisions," stated the president.

Poroshenko added that as the Supreme Commander he can not remain silent after the sentence of one of the civil courts, which sentenced the military general to imprisonment for 7 years.

"Our soldiers are fulfilling their duty to defend Ukraine, sometimes at the cost of their own lives." I understand the grief of the families, but the enemy who has treacherously invaded our land is truly to blame for the death of our heroes. The only justification for these deaths is the imminent victory," added the Head of state.

"That is why I plan to propose the restoration of special military courts in accordance with existing international practices," he concluded.
