Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and German Chancellor Angela Merkel met in Brussels Tuesday to discuss a wide array of issues, including the ongoing conflict in Ukraine's eastern Donbas Region, Poroshenko's press secretary Svyatoslav Tsegolko reported on his Twitter account.

The meeting with Merkel came in the wake of Poroshenko's pow-wow with newly elected French President Emmanuel Macron to discuss the next round of talks of the Normandy Format before the G20 summit on July 7-9 in Hamburg, Germany.

The Normandy Format includes Ukraine, France, Germany and Russia and came into being in June 2014 as a mechanism designed to re-solve the war in the Donbas.

Poroshenko later said he later travel to Paris on June 26 to meet Macron at the Elysee Presidential Palace to further discuss the conflict as well as Ukrainian-French relations.
