President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko hosted delegation of French senators, headed by Hervé Maurey, and discussed the situation in Donbas and Crimea with them, according to the President’s press service.
“Head of State phrased his concern over systematic violations of the Minsk agreements by Russia and militants supported by Russia, including the continuing provocations, which jeopardize the implementation of the initiative on establishing cease-fire before the beginning of the academic year, and hinder the activity of the Special Monitoring Mission of the OSCE,” the message says.
Poroshenko supported the French senators’ intentions to visit the Donbas conflict zone and examine the situation formed in Donbas because of continuing military aggression by Russia on the spot. The parties also discussed the plan of introducing political and economic reforms in Ukraine.
Maurey welcomed the reforms in Ukraine. “We are assured that in these two years that passed since our last visit, Ukraine succeeded in introducing many reforms in different sectors under your management: fighting against corruption, reforming banking and energy sectors. The results truly impress us, even more so, considering that the reforms are implemented under the conditions of actual war. This is why we want to congratulate you on these achievements,” he said.
As it was reported earlier, three French senators came to Ukraine in order to examine the situation in the Donbas conflict zone.
