President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko discussed the language article of the Ukrainian law ‘On Education’ with President of Romania Klaus Iohannis during the phone talk as the press service of the presidential administration reported.

‘President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko held the phone talk with President of Romania Klaus Iohannis. The presidents discussed the law of Ukraine ‘On Education’, particularly the part of the protection of the language rights of the national minorities and the current issues of the Ukrainian-Romanian relations’, the message said.

It is noted that the Romanian President confirmed that the support the territorial integrity, independence and sovereignty of Ukraine. Poroshenko offered Iohannis to visit Ukraine in the near future.

Earlier Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin discussed the education law with his Romanian colleague Teodor Melascanu. The sides agreed to continue constructive cooperation in the education sphere taking into account the recommendations of the Venice Commission.

PACE adopted the resolution towards Ukrainian law ‘On Education’ on October 12. They urged the Ukrainian authorities to listen to the comments of the Venice Commission and to work out a more flexible model of the bilateral education taking into account the interests of those who belong to the national minorities and core nations.
