President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko thanked the participants of Ukrainian Helsinki Group at the meeting on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of its founding. It is reported by the press service of the Ukrainian President.
Poroshenko met with prominent Ukrainian human rights activists - the founders and members of the Ukrainian community groups to promote the implementation of the Helsinki Accords (Ukrainian Helsinki Group) on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the human rights organization.
"As President, I have great respect for the tremendous work that you have done for Ukraine in general to create and restore our independence", said Poroshenko at the meeting.
He noted that the human rights defenders struggling for the sake of Ukrainian state today do not lose relevance. According to him, Ukraine is undergoing one of the toughest tests in its history.
Despite this, the President expressed his confidence in the victory of Ukraine.
"I firmly believe in the Ukraine, the Ukrainian people. I am proud of the Armed Forces that we created. I firmly believe in the victory of our Ukrainian diplomacy and trust the Ukrainian people's wisdom, which today does not give Russia the possibility to destabilize the situation inside the country", the President said.
