As Canada celebrates 150th anniversary, Ukraine’s leader Petro Poroshenko sent Canadian Premier Justin Trudeau a congratulation letter.

‘On the behalf of the Ukrainian nation and personally, I sincerely congratulate you and the entire Canadian nation on this anniversary. We’re proud to be sharing the festive moment of this significant date, keeping in mind the contribution of Ukrainians to the identity and cultural diversity of Canadians, and taking into account that first Ukrainians settled on the Canadian soil 125 years ago,’ Poroshenko’s letter said.

‘While we share deep historical roots and close ties, I’m glad that special partnership between our countries and sincerity of friendship are also strengthened by decisive commitment for freedom and democracy, as well as the unbreakable will to live and the free world. Ukraine has been always feeling this comprehensive support from your country, which grew even more since we signed Agreement on Cooperation in Defense Sector and the Free Trade Agreement,’ reads the letter.
