The leader of Ukrainian state Petro Poroshenko sent the congratulation letter to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic relations. The president’s press service reported that on Friday, January 27.

‘Canada is a true friend of Ukraine; we are bounded by not only special partner relations, but also – above all – by long-standing historic relations. Canada became the first Western country to recognize the independence of Ukraine, and it has been supportive to our nation on the path to the statehood,’ the letter reads.

Poroshenko stressed that his country especially values Canada’s support of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity in terms of the ongoing Russian aggression and the continuous reforms.

‘I hope for successful implementation of the Free Trade Agreement between Ukraine and Canada and for deepening of fruitful cooperation in political, legal and security areas,’ he said.

The head of the Ukrainian state wished the brotherly Canadian nation peace and prosperity.
