The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko arrived o New York leading the official delegation to participate in the high-level general discussion of the 73rd UN General Assembly, as Ukrainform reports.
“The President will take part in the opening of the general discussion at the level of the states’ heads and governments on Tuesday, September 25. He is to deliver a speech for the second half of the day in the debating chamber of the UN General Assembly. Petro Poroshenko will also participate in the Summit of UN peacekeeping and other official events within the General Assembly,” the message says.
It was noted that the Ukrainian side will point out the necessity of the UN peacekeeping mission in Donbas.
“As the agency was informed, the President will also have bilateral meetings with the leadership of the European Union and foreign states,” the message says.
Moreover, Poroshenko will meet the leaders of the Ukrainian community in the U.S. and the leaders of Jewish organizations in the country.
It is possible that Petro Poroshenko will meet with the U.S. President Donald Trump in the lobbies of the General Assembly.
In particular, the Ukrainian leader will participate in the reception on the behalf of the U.S. President. Besides, he intends to be present at a high-level working dinner on the behalf of the UN Secretary-General.
