President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko accepted the U.S. Senator Ron Johnson, reports the press office of the Presidential Administration.
‘I want to thank for the tremendous support of our struggle for freedom, democracy and holding reforms in Ukraine,’ the President noted.
Poroshenko stressed that Russian has to immediately release the Ukrainian sailors and to return three Ukrainian vessels.
In his turn, Senator Johnson noted: ‘I have arrived in Ukraine for one reason – to demonstrate a strong support of not only the Senate, the Congress, the Administration but the American people. We condemn the acts of Russia. We support the Ukrainian people, government. We support the territorial integrity of Ukraine.’
The interlocutors noted the priority to continue strengthening international pressure on Russia, including by strengthening sanctions in response to the Kremlin’s aggressive actions, as well as to ensure the restoration of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within internationally recognized borders.
