Poroshenko and Trudeau hold phone conversation

Petro Poroshenko, the President of Ukraine held a phone conversation with Justin Trudeau, the Prime Minister of Canada. The press service of the President reported this.

Poroshenko apprised Trudeau about the situation in the Donbas region and the non-implementation of the Minsk Agreements by Russia.

‘President of Ukraine expressed the confidence that the leaders of NATO and G7 countries will rightly esteem this situation. Particularly, they will prolong the sanctions against Russia. Trudeau assured that coalition of the countries of NATO and G7 are to support Ukraine’, as it is reported in the message.

‘The ways to activate the bilateral relations were also discussed. The leaders greeted the ratification of the Agreement on Free Trade Area by the Canadian Senate. Petro Poroshenko also thanked Canada for their position on the issue of development of the defense cooperation. The continuation of the training mission UNIFIER and the signing of the Agreement on the defense cooperation are the evidence of the further cooperation’, the press service added. 

The President noted that visa-free regime between EU and Ukraine establishes conditions to activate the dialogue about visa liberalization between Canada and Ukraine.

Also, they coordinated the schedule of the communications on a higher level.
