‘Petro Poroshenko and Angela Merkel agreed on continuing of consultations at the level of ministers of foreign affairs of the Normandy format regarding the peacekeeping mission of the UN on the occupied territory in Donbas,’ reads the message.

Talking to Merkel, Poroshenko called to intensify efforts to release the Ukrainian hostages illegally kept on the Russian territory and on the occupied by its territory.
A number of matters on the bilateral agenda were discussed, the sides agreed to continue contacts at the highest level.
As it was reported earlier, Putin and Merkel met in a Governmental residence Meseberg near Berlin. The leaders discussed Syria and Ukraine at the 3.5-hour meeting.
Reportedly, Angela Merkel claimed at the meeting that Ukraine should remain the participant of the gas transit process to Europe.
