The close circle of President Poroshenko's aides is now discussing the option to settle Ukraine's membership in the EU and NATO in the country's basic law. Poroshenko posted this on Twitter on Monday.

'The ideas of European and Euratlantic integration are consolidating ones; they enjoy wide support in the Ukrainian society. Sociological researches prove that. Currently, me and my team discuss the offer to 'anchor' the EU and NATO membership in Ukraine's Constitution', he wrote.

A major part of the Ukrainian society aspires for the EU and NATO membership; certain solid steps have been made in this direction since the mid-2000s. Specifically, in 2014, Ukraine and the EU signed the Association Agreement; last year, the EU-Ukraine visa-free regime took effect.
