U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will pay an official visit to Ukraine from January 3 to January 4. The Wall Street Journal wrote about it, citing unnamed Ukrainian officials.

" Mr. Pompeo’s visit is scheduled to take place Jan. 3 to Jan. 4 in Kyiv, according to Ukrainian officials. The secretary is expected to meet with the Ukrainian president, one of the Ukrainian officials added, noting that the meeting was strongly supported by White House,” the newspaper reports.

The Wall Street Journal notes that State Department officials, in turn, have not confirmed Pompeo's travel plans.

As we reported earlier, Bill Taylor, U.S. Charge d’Affaires in Ukraine and key witness in House of Representatives impeachment hearings of U.S. President Donald Trump, will depart from his temporary post on January 2, CNN informed.

The former ambassador had been brought out of retirement earlier this year to take on duties in the embassy after Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch was recalled to Washington at the Trump's direction.
Taylor provided a lot of information on Trump telling his appointees to establish a quid pro quo with Ukraine, offering much-needed U.S. military aid and an Oval Office meeting in exchange for personal political favors.
