U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo met with German Vice Chancellor and Finance Minister Olaf Scholz as well as German Minister of Defense Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer. The sides were discussing Ukraine, as the official website of the U.S. Department of State reports.
Pompeo and Scholz expressed their opinions relating to the necessity of elimination of non-tariff barriers in trade, providing security of critical telecommunication infrastructure and Ukraine's support against Russia's aggression. With Kramp-Karrenbauer, Pompeo discussed the issues representing the common interests, namely Syria, Ukraine, Iran, Russia and China.
According to the analytical data of the Congressional Research Service, the USA has provided Kyiv with the financial aid on the total amount of $1.5 billion since June 2014 and up to now.
It stands to mention that the governments of Ukraine and the U.S. were agreeing on the conditions of supply of Javelin anti-tank weapon launchers, as William Taylor, U.S. Charge D'Affaires in Ukraine said.
