U.S. State Secretary Mike Pompeo and Jeremy Hunt, UK Foreign Secretary, discussed Russia’s threat, as the press office of the Department of State reports.
“They discussed a number of global issues, including the ongoing threat posed by Russia’s dangerous and destabilizing activity and Iran’s malign behavior, the defeat ISIS campaign, as well as the humanitarian situation in Yemen,” the message says.
Pompeo and Hunt promised to deepen cooperation on security and foreign policy issues, and “welcomed the prospect of a future free trade agreement“.
Earlier, the U.S. imposed anti-Russian sanctions due to Skripal’s case. The sanctions are expected to come into force on August 22.
Later, The U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he would consider the question of removal of anti-Russian sanctions if it “took steps on such areas as Syria or Ukraine”.
Additionally, Trump ticked off areas that he discussed privately with Putin – security in Israel and Syria, Crimea’s annexation and incursion into eastern Ukraine,” the message says.
