He also said he was going to visit other countries: Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Cyprus. The visit is set to show USA's willingness to cooperate.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Mr. Pompeo’s visit is scheduled to take place Jan. 3 to Jan. 4 in Kyiv. The secretary is expected to meet with the Ukrainian president, one of the Ukrainian officials added, noting that the meeting was strongly supported by White House.

As we reported earlier, Trump’s administration has decided to cut its financial contribution to NATO in 2020 and to send saved money to help non-NATO countries - Ukraine and Georgia, CNN informed.

"All Allies have agreed a new cost sharing formula. Under the new formula, cost shares attributed to most European Allies and Canada will go up, while the US share will come down. This is an important demonstration of Allies' commitment to the Alliance and to fairer burden-sharing," NATO official informed.
