The process of Ukraine’s defense ministry reformation will be mostly over by 2018. Minister Stepan Poltorak, said this in his interview with Channel 5.
According to him, the reform will have ended when civilians get certain degree of control over the Armed Forces. The Minister himself will be a civilian person. New office of the State Secretary will be implemented. Responsibilities on all ministerial levels will be re-assigned; so will the control systems, functions and tasks.
In 2019-2020, all military authorities and units will be reformed completely, Poltorak said. ‘Offices of the Commander in Chief and Chief of the General Staff will be separated,’ he noted.
