The freedom of speech and independent media became victims of the political technology, which is exactly what the Ukrainian Parliament went for on Thursday session. 112 Ukraine TV channel's owner Eduard Katz said this in his statement.

'Regrettably, the risks due to which I decided to become the owner of 112 Ukraine TV channel came true. Today (October 4, - 112 International), a TV channel suffered a heavy blow. It is surprising that the Parliament became a tool to strike one of the basic values of Ukraine, a democratic country that aspires for EU integration. I'm sure this decision does not meet either democratic principles or true aspirations of Ukrainians. What happened is nothing but a political technology. But freedom of speech and independent media fall its victims. Thus, we start working to protect media freedom in Ukraine and on the international level. I do hope that the reaction of Ukraine's western partners and international organizations will not let this hideous intention to become true,' reads the statement.

The staff of 112 Ukraine TV channel insists that the steps made by the Ukrainian Parliament, which aim to apply sanctions against 112 Ukraine TV channel are nothing but a political decision; there is not enough evidence to make such decision, which badly lacks argumentation and may be considered unconstitutional.
