Polish President Andrzej Duda approved amendments to the law on foreigners passed by parliament on December 17, 2021, which simplifies the legalization of this category of persons in the country, the press service of the office of the head of the Polish state reports.

The most important changes the law introduces provide the following:

1) Replacing the requirements for a guaranteed place of residence and a source of stable and regular income sufficient to cover the cost of living for themselves and family members who are dependent on a foreigner, the requirement that a foreigner receive a salary not lower than the minimum level - regardless from working hours and the type of legal relationship that is the basis for the work;

2) expanding the list of circumstances that do not require a change or issuance of a new temporary residence and work permit and the issuance of a new work permit;

3) implementation of decisions that accelerate the receipt of temporary residence and work permits by foreigners who intend to work in enterprises of special strategic importance for the Polish economy, as well as facilitate the obtaining of work permits for these foreigners;

4) establishing a legal basis for the priority consideration of applications for a national visa in order to perform work from citizens of certain countries specified in the resolution of the Minister of Foreign Affairs;

5) extension for up to 24 months of the possibility of entrusting work to a foreigner without a work permit on the basis of an application for a work assignment;

6) establishment of a 60-day term for consideration of an administrative case on granting a foreigner a temporary residence permit in the first instance and a 90-day term for consideration of the case by the appellate body;

7) creation of legal grounds for the voivodship to summon a foreigner to submit the documents necessary to confirm the data contained in the application and the circumstances justifying the application for a temporary residence permit;

8) reduction of the terms of consideration of applications for certain national visas (i.e. issued for training, research and/or development, internships or participation in the European Voluntary Service program) from 60 to 30 days;

9) streamlining the provisions on the beginning of the procedure for issuing a temporary residence permit in cases where the application is not submitted in person by a foreigner who must obtain this permit;

10) making changes that simplify the procedure for issuing a permit for seasonal work and related to the performance of work by a foreigner on the basis of a declaration of assignment.

The law enters into force after 14 days from the date of its publication.

As it was reported, Poland simplified the rules of entry into the country due to queues at the border on the part of Ukraine in December of the last year.

In May, Poland began vaccinating Ukrainians going to work in the country.
