Polish Foreign Minister Szymon Szynkowski vel Sęk said that "Poles in Ukraine are discriminated in terms of freedom of religion, access to education in their native language and freedom of speech," reports MSN.

According to him, "the position of Poles in Ukraine is changing for the worse due to objective and subjective factors." One of the objective factors, according to him, is the socio-economic situation that prompts people of Polish origin in Ukraine to emigrate. According to him, many young people go to Poland, where they receive the Pole's Card, which gives them access to education and encourages them to apply for Polish citizenship.

The second reason, he said, is the coronavirus pandemic and this also affects Poles living there.

Subjective factors for the worsening of the situation of the Poles are, according to him, the law on the language that is unfavorable for them, as well as the glorification of people associated with the Volyn tragedy, and the stopping of the exhumation of Polish victims.

In turn, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry categorically rejects this statement, said the speaker of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Oleg Nikolenko, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

"The use of such statements regarding the position of the Polish community in Ukraine is at least incorrect. It misleads our societies, does not reflect the real state of friendly and partner relations between Ukraine and Poland," Nikolenko said.

As reported, the European Parliament has filed a lawsuit against the European Commission for refusing to cut funding for Poland and Hungary.
