The Polish side says if the statement of Zelenko was on the MFA website, this would mean the heroization of the ideologists of integral nationalism, involved in violent acts against tens of thousands of Poles, Jews and thousands of representatives of other nations

The Polish Embassy expressed outrage over how Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Kateryna Zelenko substantiated the reverence of Stepan Bandera in Ukraine, as well as other personalities who collaborated with the Nazis. The position of Polish diplomats was outlined by Polish Radio 24.

The Polish Embassy in Kyiv emphasized that Zelenko’s comment was not published on the MFA website and therefore cannot be considered an official statement.

“It is hard to believe that such words could come from a Ukrainian diplomat. They have not yet been posted on the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. If this were so, it would mean that Ukrainian diplomacy ranks ideologists of integral nationalism among national heroes, because of whom tens of thousands of Poles, Jews and thousands of other nations representatives fell, "the Polish embassy said.

The Polish Foreign Ministry is indignant that Zelenko in a UNN commentary justified the veneration of Bandera, citing the need to "revive and preserve the national memory of the Ukrainian people" and "the right of each nation to independently determine and honor their heroes."

Moreover, criticism of Polish diplomats was caused by a statement of a spokeswoman that the negative position of Poland and Israel regarding respect for the memory of Nazi collaborators was allegedly beneficial to a third party.

“It is more difficult to believe that a representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine could have assumed that the statement of the ambassadors of Poland and Israel was in the interests of a third party. Poland and personally Ambassador Cichocki (Polish Ambassador to Ukraine Bartosz Cichocki - ed.) repeatedly proved their negative attitude towards Russian aggression against Ukraine and reaffirmed their support for Ukraine at the international level, "Polish diplomats said.
