Kharkiv police have launched an investigation into the falsification of vote counting protocols in the early mayoral elections, which were recorded by observers from the OPORA Civic Network. This was reported in the communications department of the State Unitary Enterprise of the National Police in Kharkiv region, Interfax Ukraine reports.
"Information about the incident was entered into the Unified Register of pre-trial investigations under Part 2 of Art. 158-3 [falsification, forgery, theft, damage or destruction of election documentation] of the Criminal code of Ukraine," the message reads.
It is noted that on November 1, OPORA observers recorded the fact of falsification of the protocol of counting votes in favor of the Secretary of the Kharkiv City Council Ihor Terekhov at one polling station (+70 votes) in Osnovyansky district and at 9 polling stations (+397 votes) in Novobavarsky district of Kharkiv. The increase in the number of votes in support of Terekhov was mainly due to a decrease in the number of votes in support of the EU candidate Oleksandr Skoryk and the self-nominated Konstantin Nemichov.
As it was reported on November 1, at early elections of the mayor of Kharkiv which took place on October 31, 420 violations were recorded.
