Petro Poroshenko, the President of Ukraine initiated a meeting of the Consultative Committee of the Presidents of Poland and Ukraine due to the escalation of the strain in relations of both countries. Sviatoslav Tsegolko, the spokesperson of Poroshenko reported this.

According to Tsegolko, the recent resonant statements on the side of the Polish authorities towards Ukraine, including its governance raise the serious concern and cannot be left without any response.

‘President Petro Poroshenko initiated the holding of the special meeting of the Consultative Committee of the Presidents of Poland and Ukraine to strengthen the strategic partnership between Poland and Ukraine and to avoid the further escalation of the strain, realizing of the necessity of the solution of any topical issues in the bilateral relationships’, Tsegolko reported.

The Consultative Committee is the consultative body that aims to further the implementation of the agreements between the heads of two countries that aim for the deepening of the friendly relations between Ukraine and Poland. It is headed by the counselors of the presidents on the foreign policy.

As it was reported earlier Poland starts the procedures that do not allow the people who are set against Poland to enter the country, including the supporters of 14th SS-Volunteer Division 'Galicia'. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland Witold Waszczykowski. The Foreign Ministry of Ukraine claimed that there are no figures with anti-Polish views in Ukraine’s political environment.

Moreover, Vice consul of Poland in Ukraine Marek Zapur during a roundtable in Rivne stated that Lviv is a ‘Polish city’.
