Poland will not support the re-election of former Prime Minister, the current President of the European Council Donald Tusk for the next 2.5-year cadence. As an alternative to him  Warsaw called MEP Jacek Saryusz-Wolski. This was announced by Foreign Ministry of Poland, reports Ukrinform.

"Polish Foreign Ministry today sent a note to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malta (the presiding country of the EU, - Ed.), in which formally nominated Jacek Saryusz-Wolski on the post of President of the European Council", said the Polish Foreign Ministry.

Earlier on Saturday, the political committee of Law and Justice ruling party ruling in Poland has ordered the head of the Polish government Beata Szydlow not to support the candidacy of Donald Tusk for the post of President of the European Council. Party based its decision on the fact that he had violated a rule of neutrality with regard to EU-member  country and in the internal political struggle in Poland openly sided with the opposition.
