Poland received the monthly chairmanship of the UN Security Council since May 1, RAR reports.
According to the head of the Polish Foreign Ministry Jacek Chaputović, Warsaw's goal during the presidency will be actions for the sake of security and peace.
In May, Poland plans, within the framework of UN Security Council meetings, to organize a series of events on the situation in the Middle East, Africa, as well as individual problems in Europe and Asia. Particular attention the Polish diplomacy will turn to the situation in Syria.
We recall that Poland became a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council in January 2018 and will be in the Security Council until 2020.
According to the Charter of the UN Security Council, the chairman changes monthly in alphabetical order.
As reported, the UN Security Council held a meeting at the residence in Sweden to discuss the Syrian issue.
