Poland began construction of a wall on the border with Belarus. Thus, the Polish authorities want to reduce the number of illegal migrants who enter Poland through Belarus. This is reported by Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak on Twitter.
"We are strengthening the borders! The soldiers have begun building a fence on the Polish-Belarusian border. The fence will increase its tightness and significantly complicate any attempts to illegally cross," the head of the ministry said.
Earlier, Mariusz Blaszczak noted that the height of the fence on the border with Belarus will be 2.5 m. More servicemen will be involved in providing assistance to the border service.
We also note that the Polish Council of Ministers approved the draft amendments to the law on migration and asylum. The amendments to the document provide that if a migrant is caught illegally crossing the border, his further fate will be decided according to an expedited procedure, and it will be possible to appeal against the decision to refuse asylum only abroad.
Lithuania faced a similar problem. In particular, Prime Minister Ingrida Shimonyte has already announced that a wall worth more than 40 million euros will be installed on the border with Belarus.
