Polish Foreign Ministry responded to Russian MFA’s statement that the law on the demolition of communist monuments in Poland is allegedly a "direct violation" of international legal obligations, the Polish Radio reports.
"The purpose of law is to prevent the glorification of totalitarianism symbolism, of which millions of Poles, Ukrainians, Russians and representatives of other nations were victims," the Polish Foreign Ministry said.
Ministry stressed that the law, mentioned by Russian ministry speaker was not aimed at introducing changes in the legislation concerning monuments that are part of places of actual burial of the Red Army soldiers in Poland, its goal is to prevent the glorification of the symbolism of totalitarianism that killed millions of people.
Polish ministry regretfully observes the participation of Russian ministry spokesman in a "campaign to discredit the good name of Poland," whose actions "are on par with the attempts of Internet portals supported by Russian Defense Ministry, that seek to distort historical facts, recognized even by Russian researchers."
"Despite the distinct hostility of some Russian side representatives to the facts, and to the law and historical events, we tirelessly affirm the desire for an objective and constructive dialogue. Therefore, Polish ambassador to Russia, Włodzimierz Marciniak, informed the representatives about the content and essence of the latest legislative changes in Poland, "ministry noted.
As it was reported earlier Poland increased capacity for gas supply to Ukraine this autumn. The maximum capabilities for gas transportation at Ukrainian direction will be at the Germanovitse station.
