A photo project dedicated to the first hundred days of the presidency of Volodymyr Zelensky appeared on the Web. Zoya Shu, the photographer took pictures of the Ukrainian leader throughout the election campaign and the first months in office.
Here, Zelensky is pictured with his fans, during the lab tests, at a polling station, during the inauguration, his foreign visits, etc.
"My collection Mr. President: Inception includes both famous and previously unreleased photos. You can love him or not, but it's a part of our modern history, and this is the context that makes this personality interesting for me. And a photo is a decent slice of history", the photographer said.
According to her, she spoke to Zelensky twice - at a lab and before the inauguration.
ЭIn the lab, I even cracked up some funny joke about blood loss, but I never introduced myself because when I photograph I try to eliminate my 'presence effect'. Sometimes I wonder if he identified me as the same photographer during events that I covered. I don't think he did and in fact, it does not affect the quality of my work. Working as a photojournalist is being a witness of history, and it should be documented as it is, with cold indifference, without interaction or intrusion into what is being photographed. It’s best to remain unnoticed", Zoya Shu indicated
Volodymyr Zelenskiy is a famous comedian who was elected the President of Ukraine with the record 73% of votes. He played the role of a president in a TV show and when he actually ran in elections the fiction turned reality.
"I managed to photograph the beginning of his political career in a rather exclusive way. I didn't have any support from his team, but I was always lucky with gaining unique access and taking special images for our history", Shu explained in the annotation for her project.
