Pfizer is expected to submit documents for the registration of its vaccine in Ukraine in the coming days. This was announced by Chief Sanitary Doctor Viktor Lyashko at a briefing.

"Yesterday we held a telephone conversation with the Pfizer headquarters, and we were assured that all documents for the registration of the Pfizer vaccine in Ukraine will be submitted in the near future. I emphasize that the vaccine will be used in Ukraine only when it is properly registered. Not so long ago our MPs voted in favour of a relevant law, which allows to carry out registration of a vaccine against Covid-19 under the simplified procedure, and the president signed it,” said the official.

He also noted that Ukraine would receive the first tranche of the vaccine in the amount of 117,000 doses from the global COVAX initiative in February. Vaccination in Ukraine will be free and voluntary.

As we reported earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the coronavirus vaccines received under the COVAX mechanism would not be enough to vaccinate the required number of Ukrainians.
