The attempts to establish a normal contact hadn’t brought to the change in the rhetoric of Vitaly Churkin. Volodymyr Yelchenko, the Permanent Representative of Ukraine to the United Nations, currently presiding in the UN Security Council President, stated that in his commentary on the death of his Russian counterpart Vitaly Churkin, reports Hromadske.ua.

"I knew Churkin for many years, though not very closely. Every ambassador expresses official position of his country. Thus, one can add his personal narration into the instruction from his capital. But I wouldn’t exaggerate his personal role, or it would be wrong to think that his personal role in his position differed from that of the Russian Federation,” – said Yelchenko.

“There were some attempts to establish a normal contact. However, unfortunately, they hadn’t brought to the change in his rhetoric. There’s a rule in diplomatic activity – if you don’t agree with what you are offered, then you resign. Churkin has never resigned,” he said.
