James Mattis, the U.S. Secretary of Defence, stated that North Korea can count on the weakening of the international pressure only after the steps taken towards the denuclearization, as Reuters reports.
According to him, the North Korea authorities have to take measures towards the verifiable and irreversible denuclearization of the Korean peninsula to weaken the pressure.
“We will continue to implement all U.N Security Council resolutions on North Korea,” Mattis added.
Speaking of the meeting of Donald Trump, the U.S. President, and Kim Jong-Un, the leader of North Korea, Mattis stated that “we can anticipate, at best, a bumpy road to the (negotiations)”.
