The peacekeeping mission in Donbas can hardly have a theoretical resolution in any format. This was stated by Viktor Medvedchuk, the Chairman of the Political Council of “Opposition Platform – For Life” political party, on the air of 112 Ukraine.

"Because the peacekeeping mission, which Kyiv is talking about today, which is discussed by Europe, means one thing - freezing the conflict. Regarding the peacekeeping mission in Donbas, when this issue was discussed, the first and only one was a draft resolution filed by the Russian Foreign Ministry to the UN Security Council. It provided that the peacekeeping mission and its main functions are to ensure the security of the OSCE SMM in an uncontrolled territory and on the contact line. That’s all," Medvedchuk said.

At the same time, he noted that when they began to discuss the mission, a number of questions arose.

"And Russia raised the first question: "You agree on this with Donetsk and Luhansk. The same applies to these people. The same applies to the territories that Russia recognizes the territory of Ukraine. But you agree with them on this issue, and then we will vote at the UN Security Council for a peacekeeping mission.” Therefore, when they say “No, today we need to enter a peacekeeping mission” and are already discussing who should be included - this is pure populism. There will be nothing of the kind," Medvedchuk stated.
