Active members of the “Opposition platform – For life” held their meeting in Kyiv’s Premier Palace Hotel to discuss current issues 17 days prior to the presidential elections. Viktor Medvedchuk, the Head of the Political Council of the “Opposition platform – For life”, Yuriy Boyko, the founder of the party, Vadym Rabinovich, the Head of the party and a number of MPs and members of the “Opposition platform – For life”.
The participants talked about the ways out of the political and economic crisis, as well as preparation for the autumn parliamentary campaign.
“Our party has a “golden key” to peace, economy and tariff relief. We have a big potential. And today people who aim at victory gathered here. We aim to win because Ukraine has no other way out. If we fail to settle peace, we won’t be able to cut tariffs that kill our people and our country will, unfortunately, go down the drain,” Vadym Rabinoich, the Head of the “Opposition platform – For life” party, said.
The party fellows discussed plan for peaceful settlement and ceasefire in Ukraine.
“Our party and our candidate has the real program of settling this issue,” Viktor Medvedchuk, the Head of the Political Council of the “Opposition platform – For life”, said.
The issue of economic relations and tariff genocide was also raised sharply. The real steps to reduce housing services tariffs for the population were discussed. The meeting participants noted an increase in tariffs for more than 700% over the past five years. They expressed concern that gas for the population might cost around 500 dollars as early as January 1, 2020.
Taking into account the fact that when paying for heating and hot water, 80% of cost price is the price of gas, the tariffs for housing and public utilities will increase by another 100%.
“We can reduce the price of gas. Those who say that Ukraine jumped off the Russian gas needle put the country in a situation where it buys the same gas, but 1.5 times more expensive,” Viktor Medvedchuk said. According to him, the team of Opposition Platform - For Life is ready to conclude a mutually beneficial gas contract with Russia, which will allow to really lower the price of gas in Ukraine.
The participants of the meeting also discussed the need to restore economic relations with Russia and the CIS countries as a key to the success of Ukraine’s future. Due to the breakage of economic relations, Ukraine has lost markets for its products, amounting no less than $20 billion and caused halt of thousands of enterprises. Markets for Ukrainian products are the markets of Russia and the CIS countries, not the European Union at all. Economic ties should be restored to increase incomes of the population, implement social programs, fill the budgets at all levels, as it was emphasized at the meeting.
"The statement that two political forces settle old scores against each other, or that who of them is quicker and more effective in bribing the voters, are being voiced throughout the country, this information is being actively discussed in the regions. We are proud that we are not involved in these problematic issues that make our campaign dirty. We are also proud that we are moving the way of democracy and want to honestly get the victory. And those who try to do that with the help of falsifications, bribing voters do not deserve to be in power,” Medvedchuk said.
