"Actually, it will be a topic of discussion with the Ecumenical Patriarch. I hope that in this direction we will be able to reach new milestones and new frontiers, so that we can proceed for a possible decision on the establishment of the autocephalous Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Ukraine. I very much hope to receive support of the Ecumenical Patriarch and his understanding", said the Speaker.

Recall, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine addressed to the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to create autocephalous Orthodox Church in Ukraine on June 16.

In his annual address to parliament, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said that autocephaly absolutely does not mean the emergence of a state church.

As reported, the Speaker of Parliament Andriy Parubiy will be on a visit to Turkey on November 19-21, where he will participate in the meeting of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.
