At the meeting of the representatives of the NATO-Russia Council, which took place on 19 December in Brussels, the parties continued to express disagreement in Ukrainian issue. This was announced after a meeting by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, DW reports.
He also said that NATO allies reaffirmed their strong support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and stressed that they consider annexation of Crimea by Russia illegal and illegitimate.
The situation in Donbas remains a cause for grave concern, Stoltenberg says. According to him, ceasefire violations reached record levels in recent months.
At the same time, NATO Secretary General noted that heavy weapons have not been set aside, and the OSCE observers have repeatedly found themselves being held at gunpoint. Stoltenberg called on all parties to the conflict to fulfill Minsk agreements.
Stoltenberg admitted that the parties are unable to resolve their disagreement and reach understanding without dialogue.
