Ukrainian MPs highlight human rights abuses in Russian-occupied Crimea
11:55, 11 May 2016

The Ukrainian parliament has called on NATO, UN, and other international organizations to pay closer attention to the human rights abuses in the Russian-occupied Crimean peninsula. Particularly the harassment, intimidation, and repressions Crimean Tatars are facing in the Black Sea Peninsula.

The Ukrainian MPs also called on the international organizations to remember and honor the victims of the 1944 deportation of Crimean Tatars - specifically, on May 18, when Crimean Tatars mark the anniversary of that tragic event.

The Ukrainian government insists that the action perpetrated by the Soviet authorities in 1944 was the act of genocide of the indigenous people of Crimea.
