Parliament to extend list of places, restricted for armed people

Verkhovna Rada, the Ukrainian Parliament will expand the list of places where armed people are not allowed. Iryna Lutsenko, the presidential representative in the Parliament said that in her interview with 112 Ukraine TV channel.  

Recently, the Ukrainian MPs passed the law, which bans carrying weapons inside the government buildings, but it needs to be supplemented, she said.

'It will also include mail offices, railway stations, and other strategically important infrastructure objects; yes, they are guarded already, but these extra measure are supposed to avoid any terrorist acts inside these buildings', Lutsenko claimed.

According to her, governmental offices are now being checked for any illegally brought weaponry. 

'Guys and K-9 dogs come in, asking people if they may enter, asking them to show the contents of their boxes and bedside tables. They search everything, look everywhere. It's fine, and one should take it easy,' the official concluded.

Last week, the Parliament’s official outlet Holos Ukrainy published a law on ban for weaponed people to enter governmental building. Therefore, the law came into force.

The bill provides for people with cold and fire arms not to have a right to enter the buildings of Verkhovna Rada, Cabinet of Ministers and other governmental agencies.

Under this bill individuals with cold or firearms, explosive devices, various ammunition, inflammable liquids, pyrotechnical devices, poisonous and superpotent substances are not allowed to enter the buildings where Verkhovna Rada, the President and the Cabinet of Ministers work. The law does not concern the state security guards.

As to the law, it provides the representatives of the State Security Administration inspect people’s deputies for arms or explosive devices.

The law will come into effect on the day of its official publication.

Earlier, Savcheko was suspected of preparation of terrorist attacks in Verkhovna Rada session room. According to Yuriy Lutsenko the prosecution possesses evidence that she was going to disrupt two boxes with a grenade, and murder those who would survive with an assault rifle.

It should be mentioned that Volodymyr Ruban is also suspected of terrorist attacks preparations in Kyiv downtown, in Verkhovna Rada in particular. Kyiv District Court arrested Ruban for 60 days without a right to the bail. Later, people’s deputy Savchenko stated, that she was ready to bail him out.
