The Parliament’s Spokesperson Andriy Parubiy signed a decree No. 9342 which schedules another presidential election on March 21, 2019.
The explanatory note says that according to the Constitution, the Verkhovna Rada is to appoint the presidential elections. Besides, the law says that the presidential elections are conducted on the last Sunday of March on the fifth day of the power of the President.
The decree come into force since the day of its adoption, on November 26.
It should be noted that due to the Azov crisis, Ukraine’s Parliament agreed on the presidential initiative to impose martial law for 30 days in some regions on November 26. First, they wanted to introduce the regime for 60 days, till January 25. Then, the term was reduced and the Parliament adopted the document on the date of the presidential elections.
