Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine (VRU) approved the bill No. 1035-2, which deprives the MP of the salary for ignoring more than 30% of the parliament's votings and also abolishes the reimbursement of expenses for parliamentary activities in case of absenteeism.
The law abolishes the written registration of the People's Deputy in the Session Hall (if the deputy did not have time to register in the morning but then participated in the voting - he will be counted).
It is assumed that the MP will receive a salary in case of his participation in at least 70% of the Verkhovna Rada’s votings. This will be monitored through an electronic voting system and will be published on Parliament's website.
If the deputy did not participate in more than 30% of the VRU's votings or 50% of the parliamentary committee's meetings within a month, he will not be reimbursed for the expenses for the parliamentary activity for the respective month. The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada will issue an appropriate regulation based on the decision of the regulatory committee.
The law will enter into force the day after its official publication and will take effect from November 1.
