PACE to sign statement, blaming Russia's provocations near Ukrainian border

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE)

Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe initiated the signature of political statement about condemning Russian military escalation and provocations by the Russian side near the border of Ukraine. Mariya Mezentseva, the head of the Permanent Delegation of the Ukrainian Parliament in the PACE said so as quoted by Ukrinform news agency.

"Military provocations and escalation, the build-up of military forces, which is now conducted by Russia near the Ukrainian borders - all that poses a threat for all of Europe. The political statement has been initiated by the PACE's Baltic + group. The statement is open for sifnature", Mezentseva said.

The document will be released on the Assembly's website on April 19.

The PACE spring session kicked off in Strasbourg on Monday. The lawmakers will discuss the Russian threat to aspirations for peace in Europe.

Earlier, Josep Borrell, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy urged Russia to take away its troops from the border of Ukraine.
