In Donbas, the pace of issuing Russian passports has slowed down. It was announced by Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, during a briefing.

According to Danilov, statistics on the number of passports issued by Russia to residents of the occupied Donbas are different, because sometimes those who have just applied for a passport are included in it.

"The statistics are different. We have a figure of 630,000, there is a figure of 740,000. Not all passports are issued on the territory of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. They take out residents in parts to the Rostov region. Today the pace has slowed down, they are not as active as before," he said.

Meanwhile, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) observes the massive illegal issuance of Russian passports in the temporarily occupied Donbas. According to the press office of the SBU, the local "government" of Donetsk and Luhansk "people's republics" is doing this to make sure that Ukrainians participate in the Russian parliamentary election campaign.

"The organizers act in the breach of norms of international law and deprive "the new citizens" of social guarantees," reads the message.
