The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) did not confirm the appointment of Russia Petr Tolstoy as the vice president, as the European Truth reported.

101 lawmakers supported the appointment of Tolstoy, while 71 parliamentarians were against it. however, according to the PACE rules, 162 votes needed for adopting this decision in the first tour.

It is noted that the choice of the vice president took place by secret voting.

The majority of votes is enough for the victory in the second tour. Thus, in the case of voting power, Petr Tolstoy has chances to be approved.

Earlier, the lawmakers of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) stopped the automatic confirmation of the authorities of the Russian delegation.

As we reported, the winter session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe started on Monday, January 27.

Earlier, Chairman of the Ukrainian delegation to PACE Yelyzaveta Yasko stated that Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Policy and Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation adopted a resolution on the participation of the Ukrainian delegation in the January session in PACE.
