"PACE President Rik Daems interrupted my speech and threatened with disciplinary sanctions as I showed the shot flag of Ukraine, which I brought from the frontline in Donbas", Honcharenko wrote.
He added that during the session, PACE discussed the strategic priorities of the Assembly.
"I decided to remind that in the draft report, for some reason, there is not a single mentioning of territorial integrity of Council of Europe member countries, about the peaceful dealing with conflicts in Europe. And it's now, when the war goes on in eastern Ukraine, in Europe!", Honcharenko concluded.
Meanwhile, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) points to Russia's disruption of peaceful efforts to resolve the situation in eastern Ukraine and calls for an end to military provocations and escalation. This is reported by Ukrinform.
This was said in a document distributed by the PACE informal group Baltic Plus among the delegates of the spring session of the Assembly regarding Russia's provocations and escalation of hostilities against Ukraine, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“With the latest steps, in particular the recent refusal to restore ceasefire commitments, Russia is demonstrating its reluctance to resolve the conflict in eastern Ukraine peacefully. On the contrary, Russia is openly undermining peace efforts by unjustifiably relocating its troops, while constantly blaming Ukraine and denying its involvement in Donbas,” reads the statement.
